Globalping MCP Server implements the Model Context Protocol on top of Globalping, a free public API that provides access to a globally distributed network of measurement probes. The server turns those probes into MCP tools, so any MCP-capable model can run network diagnostics from thousands of locations without leaving the conversation. Supported measurement types are ping, traceroute, DNS resolution, MTR and HTTP requests, and the tool definitions carry detailed parameter descriptions so a client can choose the right test type, target and probe location on its own. Because measurements from different vantage points can be requested in one session, the server is also used for comparative analysis, for example checking how a host responds from several regions or comparing two targets side by side. The project is written in TypeScript and runs as a hosted remote server rather than a local process: it is reachable at a streamable HTTP endpoint and at a legacy SSE endpoint. Authentication is optional but supported in two forms. OAuth is handled by the server itself, and an API token issued from the Globalping dashboard can be passed in an Authorization header instead; the server detects the token and uses it in place of OAuth. Either method raises the rate limits tied to the account and gives priority access to the probe network. The README documents wiring for Gemini CLI, which can install the server as an extension, for Claude Desktop through the mcp-remote bridge because Claude Desktop natively speaks only stdio for local servers, for the Anthropic Console custom tool form, and for Cursor via its mcp.json file. It is aimed at engineers who debug reachability, latency, DNS propagation and CDN behaviour and who want an assistant to gather that evidence directly.
