Unitree Go2 MCP Server lets a language model control a Unitree Go2, a commercially available quadruped robot. Commands expressed in natural language are translated by the model into tool calls, which the server converts into ROS2 messages published to the robot's control topics, causing it to move or perform its built-in behaviours — walking in a direction, turning, changing posture and the other actions the Go2 exposes. The full tool list is documented separately in the repository. Requirements are concrete and hardware-bound: an actual Go2 robot, Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04, and a ROS2 environment, with Humble recommended and Foxy supported, plus the unitree_ros2 packages that provide the robot's message definitions. The server is written in Python and Apache-2.0 licensed. What makes this interesting beyond novelty is that it is a working example of MCP reaching physical actuators rather than APIs — the same protocol used to query a database here makes a robot walk, and the safety considerations change accordingly, since an incorrect tool call moves something in the real world near people. The audience is robotics researchers and Go2 owners experimenting with language-driven control, who should treat physical operation with appropriate caution.
