Real-time event streaming and client connection management are handled via SSE, with automatic reconnection and connection cleanup. The hub also manages process lifecycle events for graceful startup, shutdown, and error recovery.
MCP Hub supports both local script-based STDIO servers and remote servers using streamable-http or SSE transports. It uses a JSON configuration file with a universal placeholder syntax for environment variables and command execution, enabling flexible and dynamic server configurations. The project is installable via npm and provides CLI options for port, configuration file, watch mode, and auto-shutdown features.
