Microsoft Fabric Analytics MCP Server exposes the Microsoft Fabric data platform to MCP-compatible assistants such as Claude Desktop and GitHub Copilot. It is published both to npm and PyPI and, according to its README, provides on the order of fifty tools covering workspaces, items, Spark and migration. Workspace management is the largest group: tools list, create, read, update and delete workspaces, list Fabric capacities, assign or unassign a workspace to a capacity, and enumerate the workspaces attached to a capacity. Access control is covered by tools that read, add, update and remove workspace role assignments, and Git integration by tools that report Git status and connect a workspace to a repository. A second group performs create, read, update and delete operations on Fabric items, including notebooks, lakehouses, datasets and reports, with several predefined notebook templates and the ability to execute notebooks. A third group wraps the Livy API for Apache Spark, managing interactive sessions and batch jobs and monitoring them in real time across workspaces, items and individual applications, with dashboards summarising the collected metrics. A migration group automates moving Spark notebooks from Azure Synapse Analytics into Fabric. Authentication supports several Azure methods: bearer token, service principal, device code, interactive sign-in and Azure CLI, with automatic token validation, refresh and expiry handling, so a developer already signed in through the Azure CLI needs no extra configuration. The project also documents container and Kubernetes deployment with health checks, Prometheus metrics and Grafana dashboards, and ships an end-to-end test suite that creates real workspaces and runs jobs. It targets data engineers and platform teams who want conversational access to Fabric administration, notebook execution and Spark monitoring.
