Discord MCP is a Model Context Protocol server for the Discord API, written in Java on top of the Java Discord API library and packaged as a Spring Boot application. It lets MCP-compatible assistants operate a Discord bot: managing channels, sending messages and retrieving information about servers, which makes it a building block for Discord automation and moderation workflows driven by an AI assistant. Configuration is limited to two environment variables, a Discord bot token and an optional default guild identifier that lets any tool taking a guild parameter omit it. The server runs in two modes. The recommended HTTP profile starts one long-lived container or JAR that serves the MCP endpoint on a local port and exposes a Spring Actuator health endpoint, so several clients share a single process. A legacy stdio mode starts a new process or container for every client session. Distribution is a published Docker image, with a Docker Compose file and a Maven build from source as alternatives; the Maven build produces a runnable JAR that is started with the HTTP profile active. The README documents connection snippets for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, OpenClaw, n8n and generic MCP configuration files, including the caveat that a containerised n8n instance must reach the server by Docker service name rather than through localhost. Logging is configured automatically for both transport modes. The project is licensed under MIT and is aimed at developers who want an assistant to act inside a Discord server, or who want a chat channel as the interface to an agent.
