VictoriaMetrics MCP Server is a Go implementation of a Model Context Protocol server for VictoriaMetrics, giving assistants structured access to a single node or cluster instance as well as to VictoriaMetrics Cloud. It wraps almost all read only APIs of the product, roughly the set of operations available in the VMUI web interface. An assistant can query metrics and explore data, drawing graphs where the client supports it, list and export metrics, labels, label values and whole series, inspect alerting and recording rules together with current alerts, report the parameters of the running instance, explore data cardinality and metric usage statistics, and analyse, trace, prettify and explain queries. Further tools help debug relabeling rules, downsampling settings and retention policy configuration. The server also embeds an up to date copy of the VictoriaMetrics documentation and can search it without network access, so configuration questions can be answered alongside live data. In Streamable HTTP mode the root endpoint serves a small interface with setup instructions and a tool inspector. Configuration is entirely through environment variables, chiefly the instance entrypoint, the instance type of single node or cluster, the server mode and the listen address, and the server can run over stdio for a local client or over SSE and Streamable HTTP for shared deployments. Distribution options include prebuilt release binaries for several platforms and architectures, a container image published to the GitHub registry, a source build through make, and a Helm chart for Kubernetes. A public demo instance backed by the VictoriaMetrics playground lets users try the tools without installing anything, though the URL is meant for MCP clients rather than a browser. The documentation notes that answer quality depends on the client and model in use. It is aimed at engineers doing monitoring, observability and debugging work.
