MCPHub Desktop is a graphical installer, manager and directory for Model Context Protocol servers, written in TypeScript and distributed as a desktop application. Its stated aim is to let people who are not developers use MCP servers without touching a command line. The application first checks the machine for the runtimes that MCP servers usually need, Node.js and the Python tool uv, and can install those dependencies with a single click. It then presents a browsable catalogue of servers published by the community, from which a server can be installed or uninstalled in one click. Servers that require configuration, such as API keys or other environment variables, are set up through form fields in the interface rather than by hand editing a JSON configuration file, and the roadmap adds custom command line arguments such as file and directory paths for servers that need them. The application writes into the configuration of the MCP client it manages; Claude is supported, and support for further clients is listed as planned work. The server catalogue itself lives in a separate repository, Jeamee/mcp-servers, and new entries are added by pull request there, which makes the directory community maintained and separates the listing data from the application code. The project positions itself as a distribution and sharing layer: the README suggests passing the application on to friends so they can set up the same servers. It is licensed under the AGPL. In practice it fills the gap between the MCP specification, which assumes a client configuration file edited by hand, and users who want an app store style experience, and it is useful both to newcomers setting up a first server and to anyone maintaining several servers who does not want to edit configuration files each time.
