AI as Workspace (AIaW) is a comprehensive, cross-platform AI client designed to enhance user productivity and experience with large language models by supporting multiple AI providers and the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It offers a consistent user experience across various platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Android, and Web (PWA). The client supports AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, xAI, Azure, among others. The conversation interface is user-friendly, featuring user input preview, modifications and regenerations presented as branches, customizable keyboard shortcuts, and quick scrolling to the beginning or end of messages. Users can create multiple workspaces to organize conversations by themes, group workspaces into nested folders, and create multiple assistants within a workspace or globally. Data storage is primarily local for offline access and instant loading, with optional cloud synchronization for cross-device syncing. The client supports multi-window collaboration with responsive data synchronization. It supports text files as attachments, allowing AI to access file contents without cluttering the display. Large text blocks can be pasted as attachments to keep the interface clean. AIaW supports quoting content from previous messages for targeted follow-up questions and allows selecting multiple lines of message text to copy in original Markdown format. It automatically wraps code pasted from VSCode in code blocks with language specification. The client fully supports the MCP protocol, including MCP Tools, Prompts, and Resources, with STDIO and SSE connection methods. Users can install MCP-type plugins from a marketplace or manually add MCP servers. Web search functionality is integrated based on SearXNG, supporting concurrent search and crawling of web content via URLs. The Artifacts feature allows converting parts of assistant responses into editable, version-controlled documents with code highlighting and permission controls. The plugin system includes built-in tools like a calculator, document and video parsing, image generation, and supports additional plugins from a marketplace. It can configure Gradio applications as plugins and is compatible with some LobeChat plugins. AIaW is lightweight and high-performance, offering quick startup and smooth conversation switching. Dynamic prompts enable reusable prompt variables and workspace variables for efficient prompt management. Additional features include an assistant marketplace, dark mode, customizable themes, and more.
