MCP SuperAssistant is a browser extension designed to integrate the Model Context Protocol (MCP) with multiple AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Grok, Google AI Studio, OpenRouter Chat, DeepSeek, T3 Chat, GitHub Copilot, and Mistral AI. The extension enhances AI conversations by enabling users to execute MCP tools directly within these platforms and seamlessly insert the results back into the chat interface. MCP is an open standard developed by Anthropic that connects AI assistants to real-time data sources, content repositories, business tools, and development environments, allowing dynamic and secure interaction with data. The extension features a modular plugin architecture with site-specific adapters tailored for each supported AI platform, ensuring smooth integration and functionality. It provides a clean sidebar UI that is unobtrusive and adapts to the AI platform's theme, supporting both dark and light modes. Key functionalities include automatic detection of MCP tool calls in AI responses, one-click tool execution, rendering of function calls and results, and modes for auto-execution and auto-submission of chat inputs. Users can also push page content to the AI instead of overlaying it. MCP SuperAssistant uses modern React hooks and Zustand for state management, along with a typed event bus for decoupled communication. The architecture supports preferences persistence, remembering sidebar position, size, and settings for user convenience. The extension connects to a local proxy server that can proxy remote MCP servers, add CORS support, and provide health monitoring endpoints. This setup enhances compatibility and performance. Installation is straightforward via Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. The project includes detailed documentation and a demo video showcasing its capabilities.
